Large open spaces spanned by stone arches and brick-vaulted ceilings characterize the ground floor of Villa Rioddi, a 15thC villa just off the SS88 which leads south from Volterra in the direction of Cecina. The number of bedrooms has recently been increased from nine to 13: all are light, airy and fully equipped, though not exactly imaginative. There's a swimming pool in the garden, which has amazing 360-degree views, even by Tuscan standards. An apartment, sleeping two to four, is a recent addition, with its own private, sunny rooftop terrace.
