The Place
We half-expected to see Rapunzel leaning out of the Schloss Monchstein’s 14thC tower, situated in a 14,000 sq metre park above the heart of Salzburg. Instead, we found guests in shorts and open-neck shirts admiring the fabulous views over the city from the extended terrace. The adjoining Panorama restaurant greets guests with a sparkling glass facade and offers first-class cuisine, ranging from refined Austrian dishes to international delicacies. There is also a wide choice of accompanying wines, with friendly staff on hand should you need any help making your choice.
Bedrooms are all individually and luxuriously furnished in the distinctive style of the Vienna Workshops or traditionally castle-themed. The attention to detail is evident, with an array of antiques, ornate materials and elaborate designs.
The hotel has recently opened a wellness spa, complete with steam bath and sauna, offering a range of massage and beauty treatments to guests in need of pampering. Reports welcome.
