A thirty-minute drive south of Paraty, this French-owned pousada is the perfect place to recharge. It’s the only hotel along a 3km secluded beach that backs on to tropical forests, and has almost uninterrupted views over the bay of Serra do Mar.
They say ‘luxury is simplicity’ so there’s no TV, air-con or internet in the nine rooms that are decorated in muted colours and polished wooden furnishings. Some are small but each has a balcony and – of course – a hammock.
The small pool has the best views, so you’re tempted to laze there all day, but there is kayaking, paddle boarding and walking nearby too.
A five-minute walk from the central building, there is also a villa with three rooms, sleeping up to six, that can be hired, for groups or families.
