The Place
You can’t take a private atmosphere for granted any more on Cornwall’s south coast, but in these nicely restored serviced cottages you can really be yourself. They appeal to independent people who find a homely ambience helps them to relax.
You can be fully self catering if you wish, but most prefer to pre-order Antonia’s food boxes – freshly made home cooked supper dishes, cheese boards and breakfast.
The six cottages nestle at the edge of the green oasis which separates Charlestown and Carlyon Bay. Rooms are bright, with mainly white and brown furniture and quite minimalist decoration – typically pretty ceramics and pictures of the sea. Each has its own private garden and is heated by a wood burner; one of them, Marine Villa, has two open fires.
The harbour entrance and sandy Charlestown beach are a two-minute walk away, but of course you need a car if you want to explore – or hire a bike in the village. Antonia and David have plenty of expeditions to suggest – historic houses, walks, riding, family fun.
