The Place
We have several listings on Skye, but this luxury hotel is a welcome addition. We like it for its subtle style and stunning scenery and its location, comfortably nested near the centre of the Broadford village just across the road from the sea.
Your first impression might be a curious combination of shabby and modern styles, but with a relaxed atmosphere. It feels calm and warm, with splashes of vibrant colour here and there, velvet cushions on the beds and leather sofas, all creating a sense of homely comfort.
The 11 bedrooms are simple and comfortable. They are relatively small, but they are tastefully furnished with bright touches. A few of the rooms look out over the Broadford Bay, where you might see fishing boats returning from the sea with their catch of the day.
The Broadford Hotel claims to be the original home of the world-famous liqueur Drambuie, which was developed, patented and sold by John and James Ross, who owned the hotel towards the end of the 19thC. Legend or not, Drambuie is now the house specialty, which you can enjoy on the fine faux leather sofa looking out over the bay in the Spinnaker Bar.
