The Place
The Royal Oak is in beautiful Goodwood country just two miles from Chichester. With a widespread reputation for its food – the restaurant serves a combination of French, Mediterranean and New English cuisine with wines to match – the Inn is always busy at night, and a stay in one of six well-appointed rooms makes for an encapsulating short break. Each room is lavishly furnished and with all mod-cons, including flat-screen TV and a DVD player. The exposed beams and brick work offer a pleasant old-and-new style we particularly liked.
Rooms in the Sussex Barn and Deluxe Flint Cottage however, just a few short steps from your dinner table, are universally acclaimed. A touch small, perhaps, but greatly prepared and provided for and with every angle and idea covered (including cots for children and complimentary morning papers for those with a little more time on their hands). Staff are always on hand and obliging and the buffet breakfast is top-notch.
