The Place
The centre of Puligny-Montrachet, place du Pasquier de la Fontaine, is laid to grass and surrounded by chestnut trees and by the outlets of local wine-growers. Re-opened in 2023 after extensive renovation, this handsome stone-built hotel now known as COMO Le Montrachet, has become a luxury destination in itself amongst the vineyards.
The smart but functional design of the hotel’s previous era is long gone, redesigned by Paola Navone to give it a curated and elevated upgrade. The rooms stick to blue and green hues with floral curtains and lampshades adding flair to the plain walls. The bathrooms are equally chic, tiled from floor to ceiling in green, blue, or white.
The suites, Montrachet and COMO, are spacious and also rather impressive in their design. More monochromatic in colour, Navone successfully blends old and new here, complementing visible ceiling beams with bold wallpapers and statement furniture.
The downstairs restaurant champions tradition French cooking, with inventive and modern twists. Food is fresh and local, changing seasonally to use the very best of the region’s produce. Of course the star of the show is the wine list, with dishes fine-tuned to pair with the sommelier’s recommendations.
There is plenty to do here, and the friendly staff are eager to help organise your activities, from e-bike rentals and picnics, to wine tastings and cooking classes.
