The Place
Found in the centre of a vast natural park, Le Murier de Viels, near Loupiac, is an 18thC Quercy stone country house that makes an ideal retreat for those who want to explore the surrounding countryside, or for those who simply want to enjoy the views of the Lot valley. Nearby is the medieval town of Figeac, on the Lot river, which can be reached by a 12thC pathway. The buildings have been renovated in a rustic and yet comfortable style. This would be an excellent place to stay for a family: a separate gite sleeps several people and there is a large pool with terrace. Rooms imaginatively decorated. Food is a blend of international and regional – and you can dine outside on the terrace overlooking the river. Home baked croissants for breakfast.
