This fabulous boutique hotel is located in the artistic centre of Paris, near the Jardin du Luxembourg and Montparnasse, and on the same road as Modigliani’s original studio. Owners Charlotte and Laurent Inchauspé have focused on making the Hotel des Academies beautiful, luxurious and artistic – for example all the rooms feature original ‘White Body’ designs by Jérôme Mesnager.
Everything is original and oozes creativity. The lighting creates a moody atmosphere and contemporary plum, red and taupe fabrics give theatrical twists throughout.
There are 20 bedrooms in different themes and sizes. Parisienne-Left Bank rooms have a sophisticated feel; Ruhlmann rooms are designed in a calm, Art Déco style; Comédienne rooms are a tribute to the theatrical world; and Man Ray rooms are masculine, a tribute to Man Ray and making interesting use of photography.
The tearoom Chez Charlotte is fascinating: the menu features macaroons designed by Pierre Hermé – the man Vogue called ‘the Picasso of Pastry’, as well as a selection of teas from ‘Le Palais des Thés’, which sources tea directly from Asia and Central America. Come here for a stylish experience. Perfect for anyone interested in art, contemporary or traditional.
