The Place
The Mayflower is a friendly Paris hotel in the same ownership as the Résidence Lord Byron next door, with a similarly refined and relaxed atmosphere. The bar/salon is a restful place to put up your feet at the end of a tiring day. Bedrooms are pretty, with contemporary fabrics and matching furniture, but some on the street are noisy and cramped. Those on the courtyard side have large bathrooms and are pricier, but still value for money, considering the location. The cellar breakfast room is a refreshing variation on the theme: it is done out like an ocean liner with a seascape mural on one wall, and not a rough-stone wall or copper pot in sight.
