High above Delphi and Arahova (1,300 m above sea level) on the slopes of Mt Parnassos, the Elatos Resort and Health Club is a collection of Alpine-style log cabins surrounded by pine forests and awesome mountain scenery. The resort is aimed mainly at a well-off Athenian clientele, and, with its cool mountain breezes, is as much as 8’C cooler than the coast, making it an appealing place to escape from the worst of the summer heat. There is a wide range of leisure activities. The central building, which houses a restaurant, bar, sitting rooms and a cafe-terrace, is also in the style of an Alpine inn. The resort would make an ideal base for families wanting an active outdoors holiday away from the beach, or for those keen to explore the region by car, with ancient Delphi no more than 45 minutes drive away.
Inside the chalets, the mountain theme continues, with varnished pine walls, ceiling and floor, sleeping galleries, and rugs woven in local patterns. Antiques and curios from the region, such as old brass goat bells, decorate the walls, and open fireplaces provide welcome warmth on chilly evenings.
