The Place
Named after an ancient pine tree in Kini village, Pino di loto makes the most of its heritage on this beautiful, interesting island of Syros. Described as ‘small, elegant and friendly’ by a recent guest, this upmarket bed and breakfast is very popular with guests seeking a stylish base from which to explore Syros.
Architect George Evripiotis did a wonderful job – the modern building is tasteful, impressive and in keeping with other buildings surrounding it. Colours complement the landscape: the whitewashed walls gleam in the sunlight and the wooden furniture echoes the brown of the hills.
The swimming pool is the greatest feature of Pino di Loto, with its wonderful views over the sea. A sunset dip and a cocktail afterwards in the pool bar is the best way to enjoy it. With just four stylish suites, the atmosphere is cozy and exclusive. Each suite has all the comforts of home, including wi-fi, a fully equipped kitchen and satellite television. Bedrooms are contemporary in design – white walls, bedspreads and nets give a cool feel – spiced up by intricate bed frames and splashes of colour in patterned cushions.
The friendly and relaxed owner, Terezdina Rigouzzo, is happy to chat to guests. The Rigouzzos are proud of their island – and their heritage – and Terezdina can recommend the best places to visit on Syros.
