The Place
Breathtaking views aren’t hard to come by in Positano, but the Miramare – one of the first hotels in this beautiful town and sister to nearby Palazzo Murat – can lay claim to some of the best. In certain rooms, this stunning panorama can even be enjoyed from the bathtub or walk-in shower. All bedrooms are stylishly decorated, with warm terracotta floors, antique furniture and lavish, spacious bathrooms. Each has a private, sea-facing terrace (some very large) complete with table, chairs, sun loungers and, of course, an unbeatable view of the town and the beach far below.
The attractive sitting room, with its inviting lounges and impressive furniture, is an ideal area in which to relax and enjoy a drink. But it is the unique breakfast room – a glassed-in terrace seemingly suspended over the sea, with truly remarkable views of Positano – that is certainly the most impressive room in the hotel. Inside, a vast bougainvillea plant covers the entire ceiling in beautiful pink flowers. Enjoying a delicious buffet breakfast in such picture-perfect surroundings is a real delight.
It is worth mentioning that the Miramare is not for those who have trouble with steps (there are 210 steps to and from the beach). However, for the able-bodied this gem of a hotel is more than worth the climb. A final word must go to the Miramare’s top-quality staff, whose friendly nature and constant willingness to help are a real asset to this wonderful hotel.
