The Place
Once a simple pensione, Villa Giulia is a beautiful, spacious house, built over a hundred years ago in Victorian style with Gothic touches. The Bombardelli family has been here for fifty years, and have gradually upgraded their hotel to become one of the most delightful places to stay on Lake Garda.
For a start, it has a wonderful location, with gardens and terraces running practically on the waters edge. Inside, light and airy rooms lead off handsome corridors a beautiful dining room with Murano chandeliers, gold walls and elegant seats; a civilized sitting room with Victorian armchairs; and bedrooms which range from light and modern to large rooms with timbered ceilings, antiques and balconies overlooking the garden and lake. The rooms in the rear annexe are less appealing, lacking view and air conditioning; other rooms are in three garden chalets. At garden level a second, simpler dining room opens out on to a terrace with ample space and gorgeous views. At any time of day, it is a lovely spot to linger among the palm trees and watch the boats plying the blue waters of Garda. The beautiful swimming pool is an added bonus.
