Pampucet (taken from the Piedmontese for primrose) is a distinctive B & B, opened in 2021, in a beautiful 18thC rectory set against the striking backdrop of Colcavagno town. Nestled amongst ancient villages, owners Antonella Parigi and Silvano Cova focus on connecting their guests with the beautiful surroundings, the area’s rich history, and with themselves. Upon arrival, Antonella and Silvano give each guest a personalised guide to what and where to visit nearby, and encourage them to take part in activities with the writers and artists who pass through.
The best time to visit is the end of September when the truffle season gets underway in nearby Monferrato (a UNESCO world heritage site). Expeditions are organised to the truffle hunting grounds with a guide (the trifulau), and his truffle hounds. Wine tastings are another attraction, as Monferrato is known to produce some of the best wines in Italy, and Pampucet is an excellent base for sampling those on offer, as well as the huge regional variety of local dishes.
Please note Pampucet is closed during January and February.
