The Place
After a period of restoration, this traditional 19thC Ostuni-style mansion has emerged into what is now Palazzo Stunis Charme B&B – a small and oh-so-charming hotel just 500 m from the main square Piazza Libertà and the old town in the white city of Ostuni.
The peaceful, exclusive atmosphere immediately makes you feel at home. Richly decorated vaulted ceilings and cementine floors embody the elegance of the traditional Apulian style.
The four bedrooms have their own names and each has a story to tell. Pergolato di Rose, for example, was a dining room in its previous life, where restoration works brought back to light the original arbour of roses hand painted on the ceiling, along with the well shaft in a wall next to a window. In La Stanza del Telefono you can find the original telephone of the house mounted on the wall.
You can’t help being captivated by the kindness and friendliness of staff, who will make you feel very welcome. Matteo, the owner, is a delight. Ask him for tips on how to explore Ostuni.
The highlight of a stay, according to some guests, is breakfast, which includes more than just the basics, with traditional cakes and salads using locally sourced ingredients.
