Why we love it...

15thC palazzo, warm welcome

The Place

Music lovers may get a thrill from the fact that the 15thC palazzo which now houses Casci once belonged to Giacomo Rossini. Located on a busy Florence main road just north of San Lorenzo, the Casci is an unpretentious family-run hotel where you can be assured of the warmest of welcomes from the helpful Lombardis.
The decoration is modern and functional, but painted ceilings in some of the public areas give a clue to the age of the building. The open-plan reception area is bright, cheerful and always busy. The first thing our inspector noticed were two bookcases overflowing with guidebooks and leaflets for guests use. To the right is the breakfast room, and to the left a bar/sitting area both of which have painted ceilings. The rooms vary in size and shape (some sleep five), and are fairly spartan, but quite attractive with pale yellow walls and modern green wooden furniture.
Many of the bathrooms are new; some have tubs and all have heated towel rails, an unexpected bonus in a two-star hotel. The most peaceful rooms look over a garden at the back of the building; others have double glazing.
