The Place
This impressive castle, built on an ancient Etruscan site, lies in a beautiful valley in one of the most unspoilt areas of Tuscany. Castello di Potentino was discovered by the Greene family in a rather dilapidated state. Now, after years of extensive renovation, it has been restored to its former glory. Natural local materials such as terracotta, peperino and chestnut wood have been used in the repairs and the result is stunning.
Rooms are comfy and traditional, with exposed wooden beams and voluptuous double beds. Rustic design, with gnarly walls and wooden furniture, keeps each bedroom authentic.
The wine here is award-winning: Castello di Potentino has a 4-hectare vineyard with 3 different types of grape. Guests can practice wine-making as the Etruscans did with bare feet.
Panoramic views of unspoiled countryside in every direction.
