The Place
Montefiridolfo is set in classic Chianti countryside scattered with ancient estates producing wine and olive oil. Many of the mellow, stone farm buildings hereabouts are being turned into tourist accomodation of one sort or another, and Fattoria la Loggia is one of the most successful of its type: a range of spacious and attractive apartments agreeably housed in a hamlet-like collection of rural dwellings, in a hilltop setting with views over gloriously peaceful surroundings. The apartments are let daily or weekly. But this is not simply a self-catering complex cooking lessons and dinners with wine tastings are sometimes organized in the cellar.
Each unit is carefully furnished with country-style pieces and many personal touches; kitchens and bathrooms, however, are efficiently modern, and are finished to a very high standard. Visitors can swim, ride, or walk on the estate, which produces its own wine and olive oil. La Loggia has recently established an artists’ studio, with a permanent museum of contemporary art, as well as providing a venue for concerts and theatre.
