The Place
There’s been a settlement on the site of Follonico for 800 years, a boast even for these parts. Once a farmhouse serving the surrounding vineyards, this building has now been restored to provide six lovely suites and a hay-coloured stone exterior beautifully in sympathy with its landscape of rolling hills and vineyards.
The public rooms are sparse, but decorated with charm and a definite sense of cool. Beds and sofas are in clean, pale colours, giving a peaceful mood, and the friendly managers, Fabio and Suzanne, play their part in this too. They provide an unusually good breakfast of fresh breads and local produce and are always on hand with advice on things to do. ‘They are wonderful, caring people, eager to please’, says one recent visitor.
A proudly Tuscan place, convenient for Montepulciano and Siena.
