The Place
This picture-perfect rural gem, surrounded by hills and tucked away amongst olive groves, vineyards and woodland, is surprisingly close to some of Tuscany’s major cities – Florence is a mere 15 km away, and Pisa, Lucca and Siena are all close by. The hotel enjoys stunning views courtesy of the Arno Valley, which it faces, made the most of by its hilltop location. The village from which it takes its name, Poggio alla Malva, is a charming Tuscan town full of pretty white and yellow buildings overlooked by the Santo Stefano church.
Rooms are spacious and airy, decorated in traditional Tuscan style with old Florentine bedside tables and antique wardrobes. Best of all, each room opens onto a terrace from which guests can sit and enjoy the afore mentioned breathtaking views. A buffet breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants, salami, cheese and fruit can also be taken whilst admiring the surrounding scenery, on the hotel’s sunny roof terrace.
In high season, the hotel opens its cosytaverna, which serves traditional Tuscan dishes such as Bistecca alla Fiorentina, grilled on the open fireplace. The taverna is open for dinner 3-4 evenings a week.
