The Place
By the time the McCobbs retired from La Saracina to return to the U.S.A. in 1996, they had created an extremely comfortable guesthouse. With the attention to detail that seems to be a characteristic of foreigners who go into the business, they turned an old stone farmhouse and its outbuildings, set in glorious countryside near Pienza, into something special.
Refinement and good taste predominates: the bedrooms, all with their own entrance from out of doors, are spacious and elegant; suites have sitting areas. Antique furnishings mingle well with bright Ralph Lauren fabrics and there is a distinct leaning towards American country style. The luxurious bathrooms are fitted with marble sinks and Jacuzzis several are enormous. Breakfast is served on the terrace in warm weather or in a neat breakfast room. There is an attractive swimming pool surrounded by smooth lawns.
We believe that La Saracina’s new young owner is maintaining its high standards and that her enthusiasm will serve it well. Reports please.
