The Place
Occasionally, the whole atmosphere of a place is captured by a small detail: at the Fattoria di Vibio it is the hand-painted pottery used to serve Signora Saladini’s delicious food which sums up the relaxed elegance of this renovated 18thC farmhouse. The style is modern rustic Italian, with pleasing open spaces, defined by white walls that contrast with the colourful fabrics and ceramics. Light, airy and well proportioned, there is an feeling of effortless simplicity which, you quickly realize, required a great deal of taste and effort. Most of the bedrooms, of similar style, are in the house next door.
The Saladini family are serious about their visitors’ comforts and well-being, starting in the kitchen. Much of what goes into the guests comes out of the farm or the market garden and the preparation is a spectacle in itself, open to all. The mandatory half board should not prove a penance. If you need to burn calories, you can swim (even in winter thanks to the new indoor pool) , play table tennis, ride or walk in the magnificent countryside around.
The Saladinis are on hand to organise excursions and activities, from riding and boat trips to cultural visits to local galleries and museums. Gabriella offers cooking classes and guests can take part in wine and oil tastings. However, with such peaceful surroundings, you may prefer to simply relax in the quiet of the garden.
