The Place
Riad Fes is a real gourmet experience in the heart of the city’s Medina. Popular with honeymooners, the grand lobby is a fantastic feat of architecture and sets the tone for the rest of the stay. Rooms are crisply coloured in soothing pastels, comfortable and rather large. Service, barring reports of one or two minor problems, is friendly and helpful.
The true gourmet moments arrive with the view – with an outdoor patio that shows a fantastic panorama of the Atlas Mountains – and the food. Breakfast of home-made pastries, yoghurts and savouries is much-admired, while many have claimed the night-time meals at the hotel’s restaurant as among the best of their visit to Morocco.
It is on the expensive side, but for somewhere so central and so accommodating, the price seems to be worth it.
