The Place
Dazzling white walls and classic terracotta tiles make Casa Galricho the ideal villa. An intimate and secluded atmosphere, particularly in the enclosed courtyard, is engineered to make you forget the outside world. This place is about making up for lost time and reconnecting with reality.
They make it happen by thoughtful touches: the solitary hammock in a shady part of the garden; well-stocked bookcases in every room; plenty of board games. Shared spaces are arranged in ways that encourage conversation and connection. Mismatched tables and armchairs give a very casual vibe, as if you could be sitting in your own living room.
The bedrooms have warm, neutral tones: calming blues, welcoming yellows, and rustic wooden furnishings. They may appear minimalist (with hardly a television in sight) but anything ‘missing’ can probably be found elsewhere in the house.
A sizeable lawn provides an ample canvas for outdoor activities. The pool is pristine, surrounded by decking with an assortment of sun loungers and bistro sets. One especially pleasant feature of the exterior is the alfresco kitchen, shaded and equipped with a wood-fired oven.
The hosts can organise fishing and agricultural tours, and there are free bicycles. The Ria de Aveiro, a 75 square-kilometre lagoon rich in wildlife is a must for bird enthusiasts.
