The Place
Our SE Asia editor Bridgett Walters stayed here recently, and doesn’t hesitate to recommend this central Bangkok ’boutique’ villa. It was built in the 1940s and is still inhabited by the same family. The English owner and his Thai wife converted it to a simple owner-managed hotel in 2008, and their daughter designed the serene garden. ‘Home from home’ is how many guests are happy to describe it. Style is traditional, with teak floors and colourful Thai silk drapes. Convenient location in the heart of central Bangkok, near the Skytrain. With 25 rooms and suites, the staff can achieve a high level of sincerely personal service. The food is meat free.
