The Place
There’s just one (minor) thing wrong with this place: it’s very hard to find. But if you follow the directions given below (at location) you’ll be OK. Owners Pom and Tina Piek are charming, with a great sense of humour that infects the whole place. All the rooms are decorated in warm, rich yet light colours: the pictures on the walls are tasteful and the furniture comfortable, especially the beds that seem to mould to your shape. There are fresh flowers in every room, and the bathrooms are large, clean and airy, with a choice of bath or shower. All the bedrooms have a small patio (some larger than others) where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner enjoying the view over the rolling countryside. If you prefer company, head for the dining room or terrace to try their delicious Spanish/European menu, which changes daily. There’s a pleasant swimming pool at the bottom of the garden, with a well-stocked honesty bar.
The famous white town of Ronda makes a great day trip from here: the drive is attractive, and there’s plenty to see – Arab baths, bull ring and, of course, the gorge. Alternatively, if sightseeing is not for you, head to the beach for the day.
Larger groups may consider booking the Lodge, a private luxury guest house in the ground which sleeps up to 14.
