The Place
Located near the medieval city of Ronda in Cartajima – one of the seven villages of the Alto Genal – Los Castanos lies in a beautiful, quiet valley. Owners Di and John fell in love with the peaceful Andalusian countryside, and Los Castanos reflects the serenity of this area.
Many guests love the cultural environment, one guest calling her stay a ‘special & unique Andalusian experience’, made unforgettable by the attentive hosts. As well as being welcoming and knowledgeable, Di and John encourage guests to be creative. Many an artistic streak has been nurtured into expression here: there are sketch pads in the bedrooms (to capture the views) and there’s an ‘R & R’ room for yoga and meditation.
The use of colour throughout is interesting- the comforting blues and greens outdoors contrast with bright Moorish oranges and reds in the public area accessories and furniture. Walls are whitewashed in the traditional style.
Homely, tasteful bedrooms are similarly decorated in oranges and reds. Charming Spanish rocking chairs are a welcome addition. Every room has a balcony with a truly superb view over the mountains.
Busy Ronda is a 20-minute drive. Di and John can organize trips around the city, or advise on the best eating places and things to see.
