The Place
Great sea views from the northern tip of La Palma is perhaps the main selling point of this reliable but conventional place. The handsome building has around 40 rooms, outside our usual size limit, and we don’t see much design effort in the rooms: some have attractive wooden ceilings and each has their own balcony or terrace, but the furniture and fittings are standardised.
However, this hotel does have some CSH qualities. The setting, for one: surrounded by mountains, and the sea. The husband and wife owners work hard to keep a family run, ‘home from home’ feel. The attentive and friendly staff are always eager to suggest places to visit around the island, and will even provide picnics.
There’s an indoor swimming pool, surrounded by plants and mural, a spa, and subtropical gardens in the grounds. Walkers and hikers will enjoy the mountainous landscape. The nearby salt water swimming pools built into the cliff side at La Fajana make an interesting excursion.
