The yellow-painted building can seem a little austere at first – it is fairly large, all angular lines and wrought-iron railings. Once inside Entrevinas, however, you will find beautiful tiled floors, and pleasing touches such as writing desks in the rooms, and antique farm instruments that reflect the nature of the land that surrounds it. As the name suggests, the hotel is surrounded by 200 hectares of vines (the hotel building happily finds itself right next to the bodegas, so you won’t have far to go for tastings and wine tours). This is a working estate with plenty of history: if you get the chance, do go on a walk around the farm and woods. Each of the bedrooms is named after a plot of the vineyard, and there are plenty of peaceful spots for reading up on the history. Local specialities are served at dinner, such as stuffed peppers, ajoarriero (a spicy poached fish dish) or morteruelo (a deliciously heavy meat casserole). Just one warning: they can cater for large groups at times, so be careful to check when booking.
