The Place
This modern designer hotel is only a minute’s from the beautiful sandy beach of Talamanca, and from its terrace you have a view to the lively old town of Ibiza and its harbour, where many a crazy scene is played out. Despite Ocean Drive’s ‘s proximity to town and beach, it’s a haven of peace, useful after a night on the town. There are more than 40 rooms, but the hotel has the feel of a much smaller place.
The German owner bought it in 1997 and rebuilt it as an Art Deco-style hotel, similar to those in Miami’s Art Deco district. Bathrooms have cleverly-installed glass shower units, which make the rather small bathrooms look bigger than they are.
A substantial buffet is served in the inviting breakfast room, with its terracotta- and sand-coloured marble floor and white-upholstered chairs. There is no pool or garden, but that is no hardship, considering how close you are to the sea. The modern bar (young modern music, also 1920s-30s sounds) has a pleasant atmosphere.
