The Place
This can claim to be one of Mallorca’s most beautiful country hotels that also has a sea view. Just before reaching Hotel Bendinat, you pass through an upmarket area of luxury villas, where prosperous Mallorcans from Palma have their summer residences. This sets the scene for the hotel’s exclusive feature – its spectacular position. Built in the 1950s, it has lost none of its original charm, even after comprehensive (but careful) restoration in 1993.
Especially good views are to be had over the sea and bay of Palma Nova from the upper storey of the main building, in which some of the 54 rooms are to be found. The rooms in this building (and the smaller ones surrounding it) are decorated in a traditional Mallorcan style, which suits the house and creates an elegant ambience. An annex built in 2003 houses further rooms, with more modern furnishings. Magnificent pines cast the necessary shade on the terrace, where lunch and dinner are served from May to October. Tasteful cane furniture and immaculate table linen are what you’d expect, and what you get, together with attentive service. Many Mallorcan regulars come here at the weekend for the good food.
