The Place
The Hotel Juma is located on Pollensa’s lively square, occupying a prominent corner site. The reception area and the spacious restaurant, on an elevated ground floor, make a friendly meeting place for locals.
The bedrooms offer the sort of space and comfort you’d expect: adequate beds, built-in cupboards and furnishings typical of a modest Spanish town hotel, with an antique here and there. Bathrooms are clean, but somewhat small. Breakfast is served in the restaurant or on the terrace.
Pollensa, with its population of 11,000, is one of the most beautiful small towns on Mallorca. There are many shops in the narrow streets that sell local wares, including textiles, leather goods, music and ceramics. The classical music festival, held in August and September in the monastery of Santo Domingo and attracting world-famous stars such as Montserrat Caballe and Jose Carreras, is well known in Mallorca and beyond.
It is worth making the climb up the Calvary hill (365 steps, one for every day of the year); you will be rewarded with great views over the Puig de Maria, opposite, and the Hermitage.
