Sant Salvador’s owners come from Cologne, and in Arta have fulfilled their dream of opening an elegant hotel somewhere in the south.
Majorcan emigrants who became rich in Argentina built this baronial pile in around 1890. The ground plan is in the shape of a horseshoe, with galleries running around the ground and upper floors, and opening on to an inner courtyard which fachade is probably the work of the famous Antoni Gaudi. In all, eight luxurious bedrooms have been decorated with an individual, independent style: in one room stands a cast-iron four-poster, in another a narrow bed with a brass frame and a starry sky as its headboard. Intense, cheery colours predominate.
The two restaurants Gaudi and Zezo (gourmet) have nothing to fear by comparison with international hotels, basking in the popularity of guests and locals. The food, served on beautiful tableware, is outstanding, a clever fusion of light Mediterranean and international cuisine.
