The Place
The village of Llucmajor is famous for shoe making and not much else: there isn’t much to discover here, so we were pleased to find Son Julia in the countryside just outside the village.
A grand 15thC manor house, renovated in 2019 with addition of new Deluxe rooms, and total refurbishment of the large pool and bar – it offers many facilities that you would expect to find in a resort: airport pick-ups, cycling itineraries, nearby golf courses; the house is large, but filled with charm. Rooms are individually decorated, though rather neutral, with some rooms in bolder colours, but each is generous in size – even the smallest are spacious.
There is one restaurant (Sa Magrana) and a pool bar (open from May to October). The restaurant is formal and has a contemporary menu and a cosy terrace with outstanding views. The food is tasty and presentation is top notch, there are Spanish options on the menu and à la carte menu, in addition to the east-meets-west menu. Son Julia also has its own vineyard, and a huge selection of wines, including its own vintage.
A recent visitor was delighted by the tranquil location but noted the difficulty of getting around without a car.
