The Place
This is a lovely little hotel. About a ten-minute walk from Bodrum, it provides a welcome break from the bustle and noise. Surrounded by palm trees and gardens, it’s nestled around a courtyard and slate-tiled swimming pool, where guests take breakfast during the summer.
Inside, it’s simply but elegantly decorated. Brickwork is exposed to show off the original architecture – blocked up door and window arches hide behind beds – and vibrant, hand-woven rugs cover polished wooden floors. Traditional style wooden beds are fitted with crisp, white sheets, and bunches of fresh flowers are dotted everywhere.
The restaurant is popular with guests and the public, serving excellent a la carte menus, which change with the seasons. It’s set on two levels, with an outside terrace which gives tremendous sunset views of Bodrum castle. The wine, which the hotel produces itself, isn’t to be missed.
