Why we love it...

Modern hotel, boutique feel

The Place

Sumahan was built in the mid 19th century as an alcohol factory, and transformed by the owner-architects Mark and Nedret into what it is today: a smart, boutique hotel, considered a fine example of Ottoman architecture, and with an incredible view over the Bosphorus straits.
The rooms (all named after Istanbul provinces) are fairly modern in style, although the colour schemes and materials blend in well with the building. Each has a small living area and a well fitted bathroom, some with marble basins. A small gym, traditional hamam and massage room are also on hand.
